The Sin And The Sentence

These Days I was wondering why Trivium have never performed on Rock in Rio stage. I know They don't need to be there to be great as they are, however, Trivium is really louder, bigger, heavier than those names who are called to perform there, anyway.. speaking of The Sin and The Sentence, when they released Silence In The Snow I really find that I like it, SITS was a great album, but yet not so great if it's compared to In Waves, or some old Trivium releases, but it was okay. But after 2 years They managed to release an album that is great in many ways: the heavy guitar parts and the solos are amazing, the screaming vocals are superb, the lyrics are terrific, catchy chorus... I think this is the best Trivium Album to date even I've been a follower since In Waves(i got it), i really dug into Trivium work, and doubtless The Sin And The Sentence is the one, it's the kind of album you got to have, because it's so fucking awesome, Hail to Trivium!

Psychotic Symphony

I think what's remarkable about Psychotic Symphony is those great solos (God Of The Sun, they start at 7:15), the vocalist (Jeff Scott Soto) sounds really like classic heavy metal singer, some catchy riffs, some tunes really got this arabian (egyptian) atmosphere, but I think what's not so cool, Derek is yet sounding like when he was in DT, sometimes a few of his solos recall Lines In The Sand, except the Divine Addiction track that reminds something from Deep Purple (tribute ?), for me the best track is God of the Sun, anyway it's a great debut, the more you listen to it more you like it!

Phoenix

I got to learn about these guys when I was taking a look at AFM Records YTC new singles and "Before We Waste Away" was an unexpected surprise, because it's really heavy, got a catchy chorus, got this sense of at same time that there are new elements, yet sound like classic heavy metal, fantastic solos, the vocalist totally rocks, the whole album is phenomenal!

Clairvoyant

I feel like over the years The Contortionist were shaping their song to get where they are now, it's undeniable some spiritual influence in their songs (the album has this concept about clairvoyance and the loss of someone). They are sounding really more atmospheric, but yet there are a lot of passages that really impress, slightly we can hear some shy screaming (Clairvoyant, the beginning reminds me of something from Cynic), but not like before, anyway it's really a piece of gem, love it!

8th SIN

I hadn't any clue who were these guys till I hear their (Before We Waste Away/2017), and since that moment I was really pumped about their sound, so I dug into their work, that was when I found The 8th Sin (2007), that's hard to say something bad about it, because this album got all elements I really love, it's probably one of the greatest power/heavy metal I've ever heard, Hail to Nocturnal Rites/8th SIN!!

Take Me Home

I think when some music is able to "touch" your heart someway, somehow, or with great lyrics, awesome instrumental, marvelous voices, then it fulfils its role, that's art, this is what these guys do, remarkable painting!

BABEL

I cannot say I really enjoyed the first single of this new album, but the more you listen to not only the single, but the whole album, more they grow on you, it's really a great release, it's not too concept like the previous album (I did not like the storyline) but on this one "The crew is searching for God". What is more impressive about Soul Secret is this ability to sound heavy, sometimes jazzy, melodic, the keys are really well done, whole instrumental is really awesome!

Brightest Star

The key to creativity: that's hard. I do know how hard is to be a true musician and yet being creative, but for Big Big Train it seems to be easy (easy= hard work, inspiration), because in every single album they pull out something that amazes. Even a few songs 'from folklore' are sounding better on this one, Behold the beauty of this new baby!

Death Road

I think Death on Life Road is the best Jorn album to date, mainly because it's so metamorphic: great riffs and solos, this ability to sound classic ("spirit of 80's") and at the same time modern is really something unbelievable, also the lyrics are on another level and Jorn Lande voice: pure magic, it really deserves 5 stars with glory!

Coma Live

I haven't ever seen a entire BBM concert, even They have 'Colors' available on YT, but as I really love Coma Ecliptic, it would be great to purchase C.E Live, and I did. This New Live Concert is really killer, I mean every band mate is completely committed to this cause: to make great music, although I think Tommy and Dan stand out, mainly for playing more instruments in the gig, it's really amazing What They do in a short time: different voices, microphones changing, to play keyboard, well.. E.X.O.D.U.S

Exodus is a kind of instrumental album that we really need to listen to it until the last song (Exit Through Ashes), it's really catchy, full of amazing solos and riffs, also it's kinda different when compared to the his previous albums, it's really more modern, I venture to say AJ is going slightly Djent in Exodus (Ever After), and also the keyboards on the background are really giving this feeling of something modern, awesome!

Resolve

I'm not 'phd' in progressive music, but I do know that it must be unusual and to have quality (musicality: great notes and tunes, solos, meaningful yrics). These are what we can notice in Resolve, there are a lot of modern prog sounds that they mix with classic hard guitars and vocals. I think in every single song Mindmaze really improve themselves and Resolve is really better than their previous album, highlight to the same classical guitar tune starting and ending the album, really great!

Grimspound

even I haven't liked Folklore, it's undeniable the BBT evolution over the years and to see How great they are on Grimspound is phenomenal. Usually I really say something good about Nick, because I started to like SB because of him, but that's diminish the whole. Man, every single musician in BBT world is so committed on playing that really mesmerizes (u can notice it on Stone and Steel documentary). If you listen to Danny Manners tunes or even Rachel Hall, u start to realize how big is this prog world, it's not only about genesis, yes, pink floyd, these bands gave their contributions and are legends, but what's happening now it's really better than these oldies. Speaking of Grimspound: I think it's the best BBT studio album to date, it's full of beautiful soundscapes and the instrumental Oh.. god, and , as always, vocals are really awesome: a complete package of goodies a must buy for sure!

Contingent

I forgot how many times I shout "Tell me friends What lies beyond the borders..." That time the band still had 'Lance King' on vocals and I've been loving Legend Of The Bone Carver since then. I cannot say I really like the albums released after Lance era, but speaking of Contingent: For some people music has to be only systematic and complex, but not for me, it got to have more than only these, and on this album I find them: catchy chorus, amazing riffs,  sweet  keyboard passages, great vocals, and feeling, music without it, it's really like eat ice cream without sugar, not fun at all, diabetic album!! love it!

Ignea really could sound like any else band, but just NOT. They combine the force of the heavy metal, with some oriental stuff (They are from Ukraine), growling vocals and yet they are symphonic, I don't know if I've ever seen a band as peculiar as They are, Ignea Akbar!

weird how the things are, some christians did not let their album available on YT and yet they say they are spreading the gospel for the greater good ($$)2.. Until

I don't even know if we could call Fewjar 'prog', but this tag doesn't matter at all. I'm not sure if I could compare them to some band, perhaps Alcest ? but what's certain: it's atmospheric, eletronic, also the vocals are really well performed, and I really don't remember to hear something that resembles their music, really interesting!

Trifles And Pandemonium

I just don't know how the fuck I missed out this release.. Holy SHIT..because I really like A.C.T. I always wanted to see these guys live with a great quality, but it's so hard to find on YT, and also it's for them go out on tour, South America: probably never. They're one of those underrated bands that really don't deserve to  be clouded, mainly because their musicality, compositions, and it's not easy to be complex without being boring. In their Trifles And Pandemonium They don't disappoint, but the Itunes version (640x360) is the unique restriction of this release , I don't know If I'm too dumb to download this on '720p' or it don't have HD at all, and I think this doesn't have it, but anyway it's really great!

A Stone's Throw from the Line

I don't agree when they say that the last BBT studio album was the best of 2016, although I do with this way of business They're doing over the years, adding the entire discography with cover and their new dvd on digital version: Dude, that's awesome! mainly for who doesn't live on Europe or North America. I just don't understand why some bands don't do the same. I wonder what's the best ? - having 100 mp3 or mp4 files being downloaded illegally, or having this amount being bought for a good price ? A good price and a great content it's what u will find inside this new release. For those who like excelent musicians and the great energy emanated from them, plus Nick D' Virgilio omg, that's the release!

Do U Tango ?

I don't get it, once Jonas said he'd be releasing this on dvd, but He simply shelved this project. If the problem is money, why not crowfunding that? as TFK, Karmakanic has some loyal fans that would be supporting  this, since the fucking record labels are not so interested on doing something, I will be supporting the true musicians! for it, I bow!

BOO

The first song I listened from them was Follow The Signs, that time I was not so familiar with progressive death metal, but I really enjoyed that song. Speaking of The Eternal Reign: I might be wrong, but I think it's really better than their later releases, I mean this album was re-recorded, it was released actually in 2007, the difference it comes with a new song (Glorious Day), anyway it's really a hammer straight to the head,  if ur thinking of something heavier → The Eternal Reign!

They really care that people don't pirate their music but they don't give any good conditions for us to get their albums. I mean this album on Google Play is 42.. wtf! is that fair ? then after all Do you ask why my music is being pirated ? why !?

Aathma

I think the most surprising about Aathma is the magnificent ability to being heavy, death, melodic, technical, atmospheric and yet it features Paul Masvidal in two songs, is there something more prog than that ? I don't think so, mighty album!

OriginS

even the old times I did not like songs with screaming vocals, I think what draw my attention about them was the superb capacity of playing their instruments, well..now I really get the big picture. Origin got all these elements, it is very well played, the mixing between screaming and clean vocals are perfect, the energy that every single song brings is killer, the gregorian chant is something unbelievable, indeed I think it's the best album of Mutiny Within,  Mighty album!

Hallo Spaceboy!

I don't remember the first song that I listen from them, I guess it was 'Through Osiris Eyes' or 'God's Equation', anyway since 2008 I am a true follower of Pagan's Mind for many reasons: Jorn guitar player is one of kind, his hammering is killer, also the band got this atmosphere, like you are a space traveler, a lot of it comes from Ronny the captain, also We cannot imagine PM without Nils's voice, Stian blast drumming and The powerful Steinar Bass, for me these 3 albums really kick a lot of asses!!..

I had no clue who the fuck would be these guys, anyway they are so great that we cannot miss it, for those who like something heavy and at same time technical and yet enjoyable to hear, Hegaiamas a Song For Freedom is the album, fucking awesome!!

"It is all a game, and it never ends it’s all in vain
Tired and weak of trying
Still I’m moving on and there’s nowhere yet that I belong
I keep on fighting

Standing alone now I remember I found my home
One thousand years ago

Die every day, be reborn every day. Deny all you have every day. The ultimate virtue is not to be free but to fight for freedom. There are two forces in the universe. One that drives us downwards, wants us to be still, to stop, to die. The other wants us to push upwards, to breathe, to live. And here we are, standing between those immense voids and all we can do is dance and cry and sing.

A song for freedom, a song for freedom we will sing" - Hegaiamas

Tides of Man

I don't remember if I heard a song of them before, however these guys are really a great instrumental band (I learned about them on Audiotree channel), one of those that u don't even miss any vocalist, also I think they make me remember of something from Porcupine Tree + Blackfield (without melancholy), anyway it's worth it!!

The Trigon

Since I've been kind of nostalgic about the old times, i think would be good to rewrite this..
The First one was Train of Thought, Holy Shit, when I listened to "tot", it was  truly like I had found the best metal album ever (2004), until that time I had no clue wtf would be progressive metal, so after a few months Octavarium came out, that guy who did not know anything about DT had became an unconditional fan, and that was really thrilling to listen to the first songs of Octavarium in my mp3 player. The first time that I heard The Answer Lies Within and Octavarium, I really had a thing, that fucking restrained cry that wants to escape, but I don't let it out, until I listen to Scenes From a Memory, after that I couldn't hold it anymore, also I can not forget the unbelievable An Evening that They played the entire Scenes From a Memory, probably the best concert of my life, What was a Concert!! Behold the Trigon!

I know nothing can be like before, anyway.. these 3 albums really changed my point of  view about a lot of things. Music is more than a fucking bitch twerking (here in Brazil we have a lot of these shit) or even more than banging the fucking head, it moves inside and out.
